Air intake screens - a real change for 2014

Air intake screens - a real change for 2014

Change. This is not something that we in the UK find particularly easy.

The old adage, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" tends to underpin our thinking.

Contact RAB to discuss your problem plant.

However, the above phrase does not work when it comes to considering an air intake screen.

In the majority of cases it IS broken because we have never protected chiller, cooling and condenser coils previously.

The equipment is not supplied with any form of filtration and so the average maintenance team are left with the problem of keeping coil fins clean and free of dirt and debris.

It is an onerous task and one which can also cause mechanical damage to the fins and further reduce the cooling efficiency.  Why bother with it when you could use an air intake screen?

Air intake screens are simple to fit. Multiple options including magnetic, hook and loop, bungee cord, quick release and framed.

  • Air intake screens stop your equipment getting dirty between maintenance visits.
  • Air intake filter screens also maintain. and in some instances improve, plant efficiency.
  • Air intake screens allow a greater airflow than standard pre-filter media (0.7m/s vs 0.5m/s).
  • If you have a greater airflow you need less fan speed and less energy.
  • Return on investment is usually less than 2 years and in extreme cases less than 2 weeks.
